Flights of Wonder

Under a canvas canopy at Asia's Caravan Stage in the Disney World Resorts Animal Kingdom, The Flights of Wonder are performed several times a day.

The stage itself transports you the Himalayan highlands or to that of Rajasthan, India. With The Flights of Wonder tickets, you can get up close and personal with over twenty different species of free-flying exotic birds.

Just a sampling of the birds featured in Flights of Wonder include the Abyssinian ground hornbill, the American bald eagle, the augur buzzard, the Barbary falcon, the Eurasian Eagle Owl, the gray-crowned crane, the Harris Hawk, the ibis, Indian runner ducks, the Macaw, the pigeon, the seriema, the toco toucan, and the yellow-napped Amazon parrot.

The show interweaves the birds’ demonstrations of flight and natural behaviors with our hero Luke who ventures to the land of his ancestors to search for treasure. He is helped by the assistance of a Phoenix.

The Flights of Wonder is a twenty-five minute mesmerizing performance highlighting swooping, soaring and the hunting abilities of different birds, all trained to visual or auditory cues. Though the show seems to be a simple presentation on and about birds, the performance has deeper themes of conservation woven into the story line.

The Flights of Wonder is wheelchair and motorized scooter friendly. For those who are hearing impaired, Disney Guest Services can provide you with assistive listening devices and sign language interpreters are available at designated performances.

More information on hearing impaired assistance can be had by calling (407) 824-5217, and should be called at least two weeks before arrival.

Be awed by Groucho's singing voice—a yellow-napped Amazon parrot—and beware birds air-diving into the audience. Don't ever hold out paper money either because a hawk has secretly been trained to snatch the money out of the extended hand.

The "tour guide" Guano Joe (note Guano is Spanish for bird poop) may not return the money. Anyone named after feces should not be trusted. Seriously though, this show is truly a must-see for all ages, and tickets are available online now. And, of course, The Flights of Wonder tickets are good for all of Disney's World Resorts Animal Kingdom attractions and rides.
